ADF: Ron, hello, welcome in France with les Chroniques des Fontaines !

RON: Thank you, I am humbled and flattered by your interest in my work.

ADF: Ron, how did things started for you in comic books? What is your key defining moment, like for example, the one issue that opened you the doors of the industry?

RON: The earliest comic my older brother and I can remember was a 1964 issue of World’s Finest from DC Comics featuring Batman and Superman. That led to a love affair with Super-Heroes that ran through the Batman TV series and dozens of comics until I discovered Spider-Man on the 1967 cartoon and finally began reading Marvel Comics which crystalized my desire at a young age to pursue comics as a profession!

ADF: The story you wrote in The Seeds, the dystopic graphic novel you imagined with David Aja in 2018, is strange, grim and mind blowing… Annie, is this script an echo of your personal feelings about these artificial intelligences which consumes free wills?  Are the seeds of our freedom up up and away from the societal reality in the sky with aliens or in dreams with Morpheus?

AN : The way I work is instinctual. I fold my own fears into stories sometimes, to understand them. They say cave paintings of mammoths and other beasts might have been done to contain fears by outlining them. When David Aja wrote to ask me what I was working on, it was right at the moment my beekeeping friends were noticing that the bees were leaving. Also, as a sometimes-journalist, I was worried about how free « content » was making it difficult to get paid to write, and the content on line was often badly fact-checked.

1/ ADF : Irina, à l’attention de celles et ceux qui ne te connaissent pas, peux-tu nous conter ton parcours (qui est loin d’être tranquille) ?

ITV : Née dans le milieu du cinéma et bilingue en anglais, j’ai commencé par être adaptatrice pour le doublage des films étrangers en français tout en ayant des attirances pour la comédie. J’avais de l’humour, ma voix plaisait, j’ai été engagée à FIP pour y être insolente et charmeuse. Aussitôt à l’antenne, les radios et les boites de pub m’ont convoquée et j’y ai commencé ma carrière. Conversation with Marv Wolfman

1/ADF: Marv, how did things started for you in comic books? What was your first job in the industry? Tell us about your influences? A funny anecdote in mind?

MW: I was a rabid comic book fan and started to write my own stories for fan magazine. They were called fanzines. One of my fanzines had horror stories and I sent them to editors at DC. Live interview, in Dylan Thomas dreamlike’s language, with Jon Himoff, a very alive, music live lover!

1/ADF: Jon, hello, I read, before Camden Live, you were quite a tech start-up guy. Tell us what led you on the road of your “Camden Live show” which started in 2020 at the same time as the pandemic (which is quite unique in the musical universe and a real inspiration for musicians, thanks to your goodwill).

JH: I live very close to the music clubs in Camden and love to go to shows. It was a bit hard to keep track of what was going on as all the info is scattered across each venue or promoter site. There were more than 3,000 shows in nearly two dozen venues in Camden yearly before Covid. So, being a tech guy, I thought we could pull all the listings together into one place and make it easy to search and get alerts about tickets you could buy (see the Camden Gig listings here: https://camden-live.com/gig-listings). Many of the venues are small, so you have to jump on tickets fast. When the pandemic hit of course all the shows stopped. We wanted to keep the live music flame burning the best we could, so then we figured out how to run the Camden Live Stream shows. We’ve done more than 55 with over 125 artists so far.  We also rented the empty clubs and filmed some digital gig shows which you can watch on the site (https://camden-live.com/music/digital/). Now we are planning live in-person shows in Camden and will do about 30 shows in 4 different venues through the end of the year. And still we will keep the live stream going! Not everyone can make it to a gig in Camden and we want to share the music scene here around the world.

1/ADF : Louis, vous êtes médecin-anesthésiste-réanimateur en hôpital public à Marseille (bravo !) Vous avez attiré l’attention du pouvoir, des médecins et du public en proposant un autre point de vue médical, quant au chaos social et ce climat apeuré qui s’est emparé de nos contrées depuis la crise du coronavirus. Votre discours se veut rassurant et non alarmant en comparaison de nombre de vos consœurs et confrères du secteur médical. Merci d’être là pour nous… Pouvez-vous nous dire, vous qui travaillez au cœur des murs hospitaliers, ce qu’il se passe (ou trame) réellement dans les hôpitaux ? C’est l’hécatombe ou bien, on se fout littéralement de nous ? Si oui, pourquoi ?

LF : Bonjour, merci de me recevoir. Je déclare en préambule que je n’ai pas de conflits d’intérêt avec les industries de santé dans le contexte du Covid. J’ai donc une certaine liberté de ton et de parole. Je ne parle pas pour mon institution qui a un tout autre discours que le mien et dont je salue avec admiration le travail énorme accompli autour de la prise en charge des malades du covid et de tous les autres.

J’ai des liens d’intérêt en revanche avec un collectif citoyen qui s’appelle Reinfo Covid et j’invite vos lecteurs à en suivre le site internet (www.reinfocovid.fr, la newsletter, et les réseaux sociaux dont youtube Reinfocovid 2020 et 2021).

Vous parlez d’un discours « rassurant » ? Ce n’est pas le but. Le but est de sortir de la peur.

Interview “Shakespeare’s language” with Colton Worley

1/ADF: Colton, how did things first start for you in comic books? Your first job in the industry? An anecdote or triggering incident in mind?

CW: Well, actually, this was my first job in comics.  Dynamite apparently needed someone for Dracula and I’d submitted some samples of my work to Dynamite and few others right around this time.  Apparently they’d gone through a couple artists that hadn’t worked out for whatever reason and I guess my samples just showed up at the right time.

1/ ADF : Govrache, hello ! En préambule à cette interview cocasse, tu pourrais, histoire de pimenter ta page Wikipedia, nous conter quelques anecdotes, rencontres et autres aventures insolites que tu as pu vivre (ou subir) à tes débuts ?

Govrache : Je me souviens des débuts, où il m’est arrivé de jouer un soir dans un bar, sous un écran qui diffusait du foot. Deux mecs dans la salle, accoudés au comptoir qui regardaient dans ma direction. A un moment donné, ils m’ont demandé si je pouvais me décaler et baisser le son. J’ai remballé mon matos et me suis tiré, en me disant que c’était pas gagné…
